Currently a Sophomore attending the University of Missouri Columbia chasing a BFA! I was born in 1996 - the perfect time to be born and be swept into the Pokemon Craze! Much to my parent's dismay, I have been hooked on Pocket Monsters since I can remember! I got everything from Tomys to TCG to the plush and games! My very first personal game system was a purple Gameboy Color just so I could play Pokemon Yellow, furthering my love for the franchise. And then when Pokemon Emerald came out in 2004, my heart was stolen by a little Pokemon named Milotic, the stunningly beautiful water dragon. My favorite feature to ever be explored in the games are the contests. I LOVE contests, if Pokemon were real becoming a master coordinator would be my goal over becoming a champion. They are also my favorite episodes of the anime because they are just so interesting to watch! Milotic is centered around contests which first sparked my interest in her, and then obtaining her became a personal milestone. My family didn't have a computer at the time (blasphemy I know!) so I couldn't just Google how to find her. All I knew was from the strategy guide my parents bought for me as a birthday present. I fished for weeks on Route 119, hoping to eventually catch a Feebas. And then I did. I quickly filled it up with Beauty Pokeblocks, leveled her up, and finally had a Milotic on my team. Once I discovered Pokemon collecting and Pkmncollectors in 2014, I knew I had to collect Milotic!
Dusclops has a different story! Dusclops was a Pokemon that I was indifferent to until a became an active collector 2 years ago. I was actually looking into purchasing a Duskull Pokedoll as I really liked the design of the plush. While searching for it, some images of Dusclops came up and I don't know why but something clicked in my brain. Dusclops is a tubby. Mummy. Whocandevoursouls.
And something about that makes him unbelievably adorable to me! So I began collecting him as well! He doesn't have as much merchandise as most other Pokemon but I've gathered a pretty decent collection! And I hope it keeps on going!
And the last of my main collections is Phantump. I fell in love with Phantump the moment I saw one in game (I played through Y totally blind to enhance the experience so it was seriously love at first sight!) Her design is just so unique! But what I loved even more? Was her Pokedex entry.
According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest.
Woah! I absolutely love horror/dark/creepy themes! Especially when they are embedded in a media targeting a younger audience because it somehow emphasizes the creepiness and the tragedy! They remind me of Skull Kids from Zelda, which is some of my favorite video game lore ever! My Phantump collection is agonizingly small but I'm hoping it'll start growing soon!
